Finishing
Elitian Ltd offers a complete professional 'in house' finishing
service,
this allows us to maintain a high quality finish on all jobs
and to keep
to those deadlines. Services include trimming, folding, saddle
stitching,
perfect binding, die cuting, perforating, numbering, drilling,
gluing,
stapling, wire-o-binding, comb binding and laminating.
Perfect Binding
Perfect binding is commonly used for paper-back books, directories,
magazines and for good high quality prestige publications.
The process
binds pages securely with a flexible adhesive creating exceptional
results.
In the actual process; all sections of the book are collated,
and their backs ground off by an integral saw in the binder
leaving a rough surface which
the hot adhesive is applied to. The scored cover is then offered
up to
the glued book block and clamp clamped into place.
Saddle Stitching
Saddle stitching is the most cost effective binding available
and one
of the most popular. Generally speaking it’s only real
limitation is the
thickness of the books to be bound in this way. It is ideally
suited for
books of 6mm or less in thickness.
In the actual process; all pages of the folded and collated
sections
including scored covers are stapled together through the centre
of the spine.
Wire-o-Binding
Wire-O Binding is an inexpensive way of binding short runs,
it is mostly
used for wall calendars, desk calendars and reports. Documents
open
flat and stay flat and are kept secure, as once the wire is
closed it can
not be re-opened.
In the actual process; the pages and covers are punched and
a loop wire
is used to hold the pages together.
Other Methods of Binding
Comb binding. Holes are punched in the spine and a plastic
comb
is inserted and closed.
Slide Binding
A straight plastic slide is slid onto the spine (not very
durable)
but easy to change sheets.
